DOORS AND MEANS OF EGRESS

  • BC Fire Code 2.7.1.6.(1) Means of egress to be maintained in good repair and free of obstructions

  • BC Fire Code 2.2.2.4(4) Fire doors shall not be obstructed blocked or wedged open

FIRE SEPARATIONS

  • BC Fire Code 2.2.2.4(1) Install fire stopping around all penetrations in fire separation

  • BC Fire Code 2.2.2.4.(1) Adjust or repair doors in fire separations of fully close and latch

  • BC Fire Code 2.2.2.5(1) Install fire door keep closed signs

  • BC Fire Code 2.2.1.2.(1) Repair fire separations so integrity of fire separations is maintained

  • BC Fire Code 2.2.1.4.(3) Fire door shall be tested monthly

STANDPIPE/HOSE CABINETS & FD CONIN

  • BC Fire Code 2.5.1.4(1) Remove obstructions from FD connection must be visible and accessible

  • NFPA 25-12.7.1(3) Replace missing fire department connections caps

  • NFPA 25-12.7.1(5) Install sign to identify location of connection

  • NFPA 25-6.4. Defects to be repaired or replaced

  • NFPA 25-6.2.1 Components of standpipe and hose system shall be tested as specified in table 6.1

  • NFPA 25-12.7.1.(1) Remove obstructions to fire hose cabinets/stations

EXIT SIGNS & EMERGENGY LIGHTING

FIRE ALARM SYSTEMS

  • Bylaw 7481 Part 6-50 Install local alarm only signs" id fire alarm system is not monitored off site

  • BC Fire Code 6.3.1.1.() Fire alarm system to be maintained in operable conditions at all times

PORTABLE FIRE EXTINGUISHERS

  • NFPA 10-6.1.3.3. Fire extinguishers so they are visible and not obstructed

  • NFPA 10-6.2.1.1 Provide fire extinguishers suitable for occupancy hazard

  • NFPA 10-6.1.3.4. Fire extinguishers shall be mounted

  • NFPA 10-6.1.3.2.2 Location sign or placard required

  • NFPA 10-7.1.2.1 Fire extinguisher require serving

SPRINKLER SYSTEMS

  • BC Fire Code 6.4.1.1 Annual servicing required as per NFPA 25

  • NFPA 25-5.4.1.4 & 6 Spare sprinkler heads and /or sprinkler wrench required at each valve station

  • NFPA 25-5.2.1.2 Provide minimum 18 clearance to all sprinkler heads

  • NFPA 25-5.2.3.1 Piping hangers to be kept in good repair

  • NFPA 25-5.4.1.8 Replace painted sprinkler in spray area

SERVICE EQUIPMENT -COMMERCIAL COOKING EQUIPMENT

  • BC Fire Code 2.6.1.9.(3) Hoods,ducts ,grease removal devices fans and other appurtenances to be cleaned at frequent intervals to prevents heavy accumulations of grease and other residues

  • BC Fire Code 2.6.1.9.(9) and fire protections systems shall be inspected and maintained as per NFCA 96

FIRE HYDRANT

  • Part 3-15 maintain clear and unclear and maintained so as not create a fire hazard

  • BC Fire Code 2.6.3.1.(1) Storage may be permitted in service rooms

  • BC Fire Code 2.6.3.1. (2) Storage is not permitted in Equipment vaults

HAZARDOUS ACTIVITIES

  • BC Fire Code 2.1.2.2.(1) Activities which create a hazard which are not allowed for in the original design building shall not be carried out unless provision made to control the hazard as per the BC Fire Code.

FIRE HAZARDS

  • BC Fire Code 2.4.1.1(1) Combustible waste material around building shall not be permitted to access quantities or location that will constitute a hazard

  • BC Fire Code 2.4.1.1(2) Combustable material other for which the location room or space in design shall not accumulate in a service room service elevator or ventilation shaft or means

  • BC Fire Code2.4.1.1.(3) Horizontal concealed space crawl &Ceiling shall not be used for storage materials

     

  • BC Fire Code 2.4.2.1.(1) smoking shall not be permitted in areas where condition are such as to make small fire or explosion hazard
